Help! I'm going bats.

We've upgraded from Max9 and use a Vista Home edition server to (hopefully) run three users. One user is using an XP workstation. Installation was instant and successful. The other two laptops run on Vista Business edition.
One of these now connects to Max on the server with no issues, but after trying all/any tricks anyone could pass to me. Max support have not been very helpful ... I don't think they are aware that Vista exists yet.

My problem- the last workstation. I just cant't get it to connect. When I try to open the database from this workstation I get one of two messages: The first is when I try to connect to the address book on the server:CLINIC

"Maximizer is not installed on CLINIC machine or is not available at the moment"

or, if I try to open the address book (I have edited MxzDir.cfg to enable this) I get

"The database server 'CLINIC\MAXIMIZER is not running. Please try again later."

Can anyone help?

Update. The problem is stillnot resoled but it has changed. After fiddling with the SQL settings as best as an ignorant (of SQL) man can I can now get the workstatios to connect to the addressbook.

Now though, I cannot log onto the addressbook as that user. I can log on as another user but not that one. Go figure. I even went to the trouble of creating a brand new user but it wont work either. I get the message that tells me that the SQL user name differs from the Maximizer username and that I ned to use both passwords and that it will resolve if I edit the password in Admin. Tried all that but to no evail.

Even out local (Oz) Maximizer tech geek can't work it out. Its been escalated...whatever that means. Meanwhile I wait. At least I'm not pulling my hair out anymore. There's none left! Smile
For what its worth (seems I'm the only one on the planet that has this issue)the issue appears to be resolved.

Had another go at signing in as the user in question. Got the usual message that the SQL password differs from th Max password, etc. First time round I used the user's login and password. Then this time when it askedme for the password again I used MASTER, CONTROL. That opened up the database.... but as MASTER. Then while in that database I changed the password of the user in question. (Actually I used the same old password but a least the software thought it was new!). I then tried to login as the user in question .... and it worked. Now that use can log in.

Have just recieved feedback from "escalations" also but not done anything because it works now. They suggested my problem was that there was no SQL user and gave me script to run in SQL.

Hope all of this is useful to someone out there some day.
