White on white text in menus

We have had maximizer for about 7 years and run into a strange problem in the last week.

On 2 PCs, one running xp pro and the other W2K, when we create a new field, or new item in a field the text is created in white - the boxes are availabe to tick, but no one can read them.

I have reinstalled Maximizer, and also reset the colours etc. on the PCs, but nothing works.

Before I try to re-install the operating systems, I thought I'd see if this had been seen by anyone else.

Easy stuff first - Is SR2 for Max 7 installed? Short of that, I have no idea what would be causing that to happen...

all the sr packs are the system, I will re-install the OS and start again - thanks anyway.
