Save settings on exit is the correct feature to enable Maximizer to remember the layout you prefer.

If the settings are not being saved correctly this can sometimes happen if there are problems with the information in your registry for example settings still exist from a previous version of Maximizer. This is not something that I can advise on fixing as it involves editing the registry (even though quite simple).

What will often resolve this is to choose the Reset Default Layout option from the Window/Window Setting menu. This will put everything back to default and you can try setting your preference again from that point.
