The computer that our address book was residing on died. We were able to recover the backup file from our tandberg tape drive backups but it is not a backup created in maximizer. I have maximizer installed on another computer but it keeps looking for the address book on the computer that no longer exists. I have tried creating a new address book with the same name and restore the backup to that but that is not working either. When I add new address book it get the following message operation failed with error, failed to create ... refer to event log ... logging for MAAcess should be enabled.I have Maximer CRM 10 entreprenuer running on a windows 7 64 bit computer. Please help. I have tried uninstalling Maximizer and all of the SQL software an reinstalling with no luck. I'm am at my wits end.

There are a number of log files to be found in c:\progam files (x86)\Maximizer\logs.

You might also find some information in the windows event log under administrative tools in the control panel.

Have a look and let me know if you can find any details of the error there.

Also please can you elaborate on the type of backup that you have. e.g. where did you get it from, what is the file type (.bak?) etc.

I'm Sorry but I am a rookie at this. the event log didn't really help me to help you. The file is a DBF file but there is no Matching .log file. I think that there should be. Not sure how to recreate it. Do you know if Maximizer 10 entrepreneur is even compatible with Window 7? I have gone into SQL express and tried to attach the database and I get error messages there as well.
Before you can get it working in Maximizer you need to get it working in SQL.

If you can also restore the matching ldf file then you should be able to attach the database into SQL.

Otherwise you might need to try something like this (though we have never tried it).

I don't have the matching LDF file. I tried both methods and still nothing. I've been in touch with Maximizer and I think We may have to upgrade. They still aren't sure though if they will be able to recover our data. Thank you so much for trying to help.
I tried one more thing that I'm absolutely sure I tried previously. And this time it worked. Hooray. I was having trouble adding an address book and copying my old address book data file into an new address book that I wanted to add. It didn't work before but it worked this time. Thanks Again
I'm glad you got it working. For clarity, are you saying that you created a new address book and then overwrote the mdf file with the one from the backup?

Yes, I have now encountered another issue. When I try to access the address book from another networked computer I get "There are no Maximizer databases detected on Servername"
Turned off Windows Firewall and I was able to access it. Now I just have to figure out how to allow Maximizer through the Firewall so I can turn it back on. I have added Maximizer to the allowed programs but I'm wondering if there are other files I need to add?
That should work I think. If not then you could try allowing the following exes on the server machines windows firewall:

c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\sqlbrowser.exe

c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\[folder which houses your instance name]*\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe
